Puget Sound Energy
Puget Sound Energy customers can now take advantage of the Energy Smart Eastside programs.
As a preferred installer, we can help qualifying residents stack incentives to save $5,500 - $8,000 when replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump.
Energy Smart Eastside
Available to all Eastside residents who purchase a Mitsubishi heat pump.
Available to Eastside residents who switch from a fossil-fuel burning heat source (natural gas, propane, oil, wood) to a qualified heat pump, and whose income is under 150% of area median income. Stacks well with the PSE Go Electric rebate and IRA Tax Credit. See if you qualify!
Puget Sound Energy
All Eastside residents switching from a gas furnace to a qualified heat pump are eligible. This rebate stacks with both Energy Smart Eastside rebates and the IRA tax credits.
Moderate income households can use this rebate to switch from a gas furnace to a heat pump. Stacks with the Energy Smart Eastside rebates and the IRA tax credits.
Already have electric heat, but want to reduce your energy bill? Use this rebate to upgrade from electric forced air furnace or baseboard heating to a qualified heat pump and reduce your electricity use by 30-50%. Stacks with the $500 ESE Mitsubishi Rebate and the IRA tax credits.
This program provides rebates to low and moderate income homes to make a host of energy efficiency investments that really pay off. Includes $2400 off heat pumps when upgrading from electric resistance or electric forced air furnace.
Inflation Reduction Act
The IRA provides a $2000 tax credit for qualified heat pumps.
Tacoma Power
Tacoma Power is still working out the details of their Heat Pump incentives.
Currently, customers are eligible for contractor discounts up to $2000, deferred loans, and $2000 in IRA Tax Credits.

Seattle City Light
Seattle City Light offers contractor's an instant discount when purchasing qualifying heat pumps that can be passed on to customers.
Discounts range from from $400 - $600 based on the energy efficiency rating of the equipment and can be combined with the IRA Tax Credits.
For customers replacing an oil fired heating system, there is also an up to $6000 incentive available through Mitsubishi.
Cascade Natural Gas
Cascade Natural Gas does not currently offer any heat pump incentives. However, customers would still qualify for $2000 in IRA Tax Credits.

Federal Heat Pump Tax Credits
Federal tax credits of up to $2,000 are now available to all households regardless of income for qualifying heat pumps under the IRA.
Ducted heat pump systems can qualify in two ways:
1. Systems that have earned the ENERGY STAR label are eligible.
2. Systems designated as "ENERGY STAR Cold Climate" with an EER2 rating greater than or equal to 10.
Mini-split (non-ducted) systems can also qualify in two ways:
1. AHRI-certified systems with:
- SEER2 rating greater than or equal to 16
- EER2 rating greater than or equal to 12
- HSPF rating greater than or equal to 9
2. AHRI-certified "ENERGY STAR Cold Climate" systems with:
- SEER rating greater than or equal to 16
- EER2 rating greater than or equal to 9
- HSPF rating greater than or equal to 9.5
Keep in mind that products need to be rated under the new ENERGY STAR (version 6.1) which became effective January 1, 2023.
File your taxes and claim the tax credit on your tax return.
You will need to file form 5695 to claim the tax credit (officially called the Residential Energy Efficient Property Credit). There are no income requirements to be eligible for the tax credit. Consult your tax advisor as necessary.
Any combination of heat pumps, heat pump water heaters and biomass stoves/boilers are subject to an annual total limit of $2000.
Yes and no.
The IRA included point of sale rebates for qualifying heat pumps based on household income. Unfortunately, the details about how these rebates will work and who will be eligible are still being worked out by our state legislature.
